Netflix will add the first part of That Girl Lay Lay season two in the U.S. and internationally on Thursday, February 24. The news was first reported by our friends over at What's on Netflix.
That Girl Lay Lay follows Lay Lay (Alaya “That Girl Lay Lay” High), an avatar from a personal affirmation app that magically comes to life, and her best friend Sadie (Gabrielle Nevaeh Green) as they navigate life as teenagers and discover who they truly are. That Girl Lay Lay also stars Peyton Perrine III as Sadie’s brother, Marky; Tiffany Daniels as Sadie’s mom, Trish; Thomas Hobson as Sadie’s dad, Bryce; and Caleb Brown as Lay Lay and Sadie’s classmate, Jeremy.
Season one of That Girl Lay Lay shattered records last Fall with premieres delivering double digit gains on Thursday nights and consistent #1 rankings in the time slot across all TV among K6-11.
Nickelodeon premiered the first half of That Girl Lay Lay during summer 2022, with new episodes set to resume from February 2023. Season one will be added to Paramount+ on February 2.
In the season two hour-long premiere episode of That Girl Lay Lay, “Ain't That a Glitch,” Marky discovers Lay Lay’s secret and takes advantage by having her use her powers to do what he says. When an overworked Lay Lay starts glitching, Marky and Sadie must fix her before the girls have to perform at an awards show.
That Girl Lay Lay is produced by Will Packer Media (Bigger), with Will Packer (Little, Ride Along) executive producing and Peggy Cheng overseeing. The series was created and executive produced by the late David A. Arnold (Side Hustle, Fuller House, Bigger), who also served as showrunner. John Beck & Ron Hart (Side Hustle, Fuller House, Liv and Maddie) serve as executive producers.
Production of That Girl Lay Lay for Nickelodeon is overseen by Zack Olin and Shauna Phelan, Co-Heads of Nickelodeon & Awesomeness Live-Action. Brian Banks serves as Nickelodeon’s Executive in Charge of Production for That Girl Lay Lay.
Nickelodeon has a overall deal with Alaya High. Known professionally as Lay Lay, Nickelodeon works with the teen sensation to develop original multiplatform programming, music initiatives, and build a cross-category consumer products business.
