Did you know there may have been more symbolism to Aang’s journey mastering all four elements in ATLA than you may have ever realized?
Did you ever notice that throughout his Avatar journey to master the four elements, Aang came in contact with representatives of the original masters of each of the four bending arts - and met them in the same order he mastered the elements. For Airbending, he met his trusty flying bison and best friend, Appa; for Waterbending, he met Princess Yue, who we all know became the moon (that's rough, buddy!); for Earthbending, he may not remember, but he watched Badgermoles clean up the Bending Ring just before meeting Toph; and lastly, for Firebending, he met the dragons Ran and Shaw, who helped him and Zuko learn about the true source of Firebending.
