New York Islanders Host Second Annual Nickelodeon Day

New York Islanders Host Second Annual Nickelodeon Day

Islanders to host Nickelodeon Day vs Dallas Stars on March 19

The New York Islanders and Nickelodeon are teaming up again to give Isles Nation a slime filled multi platform experience on Saturday, March 19th at 2:00pm. The event will build on the success of last year's collaboration and elevate the Islanders' game experience with the integration of Nickelodeon's beloved shows and characters, in the digital space and in arena.

Fans at the game and tuning in from home will experience Nick themed content throughout the game, featuring characters from SpongeBob SquarePants, PAW Patrol and Fairly OddParents

Those enjoying the game at home will be immersed in the team's second screen experience platform, the Islanders HomeIce Experience and by following along with the team's social and digital channels. HomeIce delivers exclusive content to fans' living rooms like trivia, polls, team videos and game celebration graphics. Social media followers will find information on how to win a custom Islanders x Nickelodeon themed Members Only varsity jacket.

Nickelodeon themed activation spaces will be scattered throughout the concourses at UBS Arena for fans to enjoy, including: a Nick Jr. coloring station for kids with themed giveaways, a DIY slime station that fans can assemble their own exclusive jar of slime, and a photo opportunity on Nickelodeon's famed Snick Big Orange Couch! Fans will also be able to participate in a digital scavenger hunt to win fun prizes.

"We're excited to once again partner with Nickelodeon to bring Isles Nation a unique and richly enhanced fan experience like none other," said Danielle Lewis, Director of Game Presentation. "This year, we've taken things up a level especially with the return of fans and the new technologies we have at UBS Arena."

On March 19th, content will be featured on NewYorkIslanders.com, Islanders Facebook (@NewYorkIslanders), Instagram (@NY_Islanders), Twitter (@NYIslanders) and in the UBS Arena app. For more information on HomeIce and how to download the UBS Arena App visit newyorkislanders.com/homeice.

From NHL:

Islanders host Nickelodeon Day, immerse fans in cartoon world
Ice projection show, make-your-own-slime headline event activities

New York Islanders defenseman Zdeno Chara is older than SpongeBob.

Chara played his first NHL game on Nov. 19, 1997, while "SpongeBob SquarePants" made its television debut on May 1, 1999.

On any other day, that stat isn't as relevant, but on Saturday, the New York Islanders teamed up with Nickelodeon to host Nickelodeon Day during the game against the Dallas Stars at UBS Arena. Fans were immersed in a Nickelodeon-type universe and saw lively displays of characters like SpongeBob SquarePants, both on the ice and on social media. The largest event illustration was a projection show smothering the ice in virtual slime.

Everyone's favorite Nickelodeon characters from "PAW Patrol" and "Fairly OddParents" also made special appearances on the game broadcast, which of course, was slime galore.

At the arena, fans also made their own slime.

Former NFL player Damien Woody was in attendance for Nickelodeon Day, but he wasn't walking out of the game dry. Or would you call it clean? How about not-sticky?

Either way, get slimed, Isles Nation.

Kings gameday: Fox’s status for Slamson’s slime-green themed Nickelodeon Day birthday bash

Kings mascot Slamson will celebrate another birthday with a slime-green theme Sunday when the Phoenix Suns visit Golden 1 Center on Nickelodeon Day. The Kings hope De’Aaron Fox will be able to suit up to mark the occasion.

Fox is listed as questionable again after missing Friday’s games against the Boston Celtics due to right hand soreness. Guard Jeremy Lamb is expected to return Sunday after missing the past three games due to personal reasons.

The Kings (25-47) are coming off a 126-97 loss to the Celtics. They have lost six of seven to fall five games behind the New Orleans Pelicans for the final play-in spot in the Western Conference, all but ending their playoff hopes.

The Suns (57-14) won their fourth in a row with a 129-102 victory over the Chicago Bulls on Friday. Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton have helped Phoenix open up a nine-game lead for the No. 1 seed in the West despite the absence of Chris Paul, who has been out since the All-Star break with a right thumb avulsion fracture.

The Suns could also be without forward Jae Crowder, who has missed the past two games due to left groin soreness. Crowder is averaging 9.6 points and 5.3 rebounds in his 10th NBA season.

A whole host of Nickelodeon costume characters and NBA mascots will be on hand for Slamson’s birthday, including Benny the Bull from the Chicago Bulls and Blaze from the Portland Trail Blazers. The festivities will include a slimed archway in DOCO Plaza; Nickelodeon-theme entertainment and prizes; Nick Jr. Kids Corner activities; and food specials, including $6 kids meals featuring hot dogs, chips, drinks, nachos with “slime green” cheese and SpongeBob toys.

FOX RULED OUT

Interim Kings coach Alvin Gentry said Fox will miss his second game in a row due to the hand injury after being ruled out for Sunday’s game against Phoenix.

Gentry said Fox is still considered day-to-day. Gentry said Fox will accompany the team on its upcoming five-game road trip.
