Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl recently developed a love for lasagna and a hatred of Mondays when the game welcomed Garfield, the memetic orange cat originally created by Jim Davis as its first free DLC character. However, within hours of Garfield being added to Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl's roster of characters, a meme went viral suggesting that Garfield would not be a playable character on Mondays. Now, GameMill Entertainment, the game's publisher has cleared up any confusion!
In a Tweet posted today (Monday, December 13), GameMill confirmed that Garfield will not be a locked-in character every Monday, allowing fans to continue to choose and play as the feline on Mondays just like every other day of the week.
"Just to confirm in case there was any confusion – you can absolutely play as @Garfield in @NickBrawlGame today and every Monday moving forward," GameMill Tweeted.
Garfield made his way into the Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl arena on December 9. By throwing pie and setting Pooky the teddy bear, Garfield is quite an effective trap character. The theme of Monday being a bad day is a prevalent theme in the Garfield series. Garfield just thinking about Mondays ended up becoming an attack for him during gameplay in the form of "Thrashing Thoughts." Garfield is the perfect foe to SpongeBob, who actually loves Mondays.
Canonically speaking, it would actually make sense for this lazy cat to refuse to partake in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl matches every Monday. However, this would not necessarily be a good thing from a gameplay perspective. It would certainly be unfair to lock players out of playing this character at certain times if they wanted to dedicate the time towards maining him. Furthermore, this would also cause issues for tournament organizers in the event an event was held on a Monday.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is out now for consoles and PC.
