Netflix’s live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series is in the midst of hiring a “huge number” of stunt performers, martial artists, dancers, and movement specialists!
With filming set to start in Vancouver in just under three weeks, the production of Season 1 of Netflix’s live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series is enlisting a “huge number of players” for the show, looking for “Asian & Indigenous performers with martial arts or dance backgrounds” and “movement specialists”, a source close to Avatar News has revealed.
This is particularly interesting as "Book One: Water" (and of course all of ATLA) features key epic battles and lots of intense fight choreography, of course both with and without bending. The fact that they’re going big with it… can’t deny the hype.
The series is set to star actors Gordon Cormier, Kiawentiio, Ian Ousley, and Dallas Liu portraying the likes of Aang, Katara, Sokka, and Prince Zuko respectively.
Update (11/4) - Netflix is reportedly looking to cast more key players for the show, speculated to portray characters such as Uncle Iroh, Princess Azula, Gyatso and Zhao!
