GameMill Entertainment today announced at Gamescom 2021's Future Games Show that CatDog and April O'Neil will be joining the Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl roster of fighters! Check out the trailers below!:
It's difficult to tell for sure, but it appears as though CatDog has a bit of a stance change situation going on where players can have either Cat or Dog as the character's leading face. We see a few attacks where CatDog attacks from both ends, putting a hitbox both in front and behind him simultaneously.
One of their attacks sees Dog grab a fire hydrant to slam foes with, and another similar one sees Cat grab Dog to slam foes with. Dog also performs an attack wherein he becomes massively muscular and sends out a walloping punch, and then another still where he shoots out bone projectiles.
April appears to be a incredibly fast fighter - as evidenced by the backflip she performs at the start of the trailer - who uses her media equipment to put a hurting on enemies. Her microphone is repurposed as a bludgeoning weapon that she uses to launch CatDog with.
She uses her boom mic to smash opponents with, and at one point uses it to reflect a bubble projectile back at SpongeBob. We also briefly see her running forward with a rolling camera stand and leaping up to do split kick attacks. Right at the end of the trailer, there is an interesting use of the boom mic attack. It looks like while recovering, April uses the boom mic to extend her reach on-stage in order to knock back two opponents who are trying to edge guard. April's design appears to be her classic all-yellow outfit from the comics and '80s cartoon series.
It's unclear what other television show properties Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl will include, or if it will offer something akin to Super Smash Bros. Trophies in order to give representation to characters from Nickelodeon shows that don't end up on the game's final roster.

Hidden character specific mechanics may have been spotted for both CatDog and April O'Neil in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl
April O'Neil and CatDog were recently revealed as playable characters for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl. Theoretically, there should be 6 more characters unveiled before the game's launch.
These latest trailers were able to provide us with a lot of information on how these two characters will play without really saying much. In two of Zetta's latest videos, we may have gotten a glimpse of character specific mechanics for both combatants.
Some eagle-eyed observers might've noticed some stars hovering around April O'Neil at certain points in the trailer. This can either be a single yellow star, two larger green stars or three even larger pink stars.
By hitting opponents with attacks that involve the camera, it appears that April will "level up" her star system. Certain attacks appear to be significantly stronger when three pink stars are present rather than just a single yellow star.
Sounds somewhat similar to Frank West's level up system in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, but it's likely that these stars are spent when April hits with empowered attacks.
As for CatDog, it's difficult to point towards another character like this. Since there's a cat on one end and a dog on the other, it's very difficult to determine when way the player is facing when playing as CatDog.
It's been theorized that CatDog is actually a stance character of sorts. Attack properties might change based on whether or not "Cat" or "Dog" is considered to be facing forward.
