The stage is set, the slime is ready, and the orange carpet has been rolled out - it's very nearly time for Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards 2021! - and here's everything you need to know about this year's ceremony!
Who's hosting KCA 2021?
Actor, comedian, Saturday Night Live superstar and Nickelodeon legend Kenan Thompson (Kenan, All That, Kenan & Kel, Good Burger) will be returning to his Nickelodeon roots to host Kids’ Choice Awards 2021 live from the Barker Hanger in L.A.! The Nick alum will be taking kids on a wild and slimy ride, making kids and families everywhere literally part of the show like never before for an epic celebration of fan-favorite stars across the worlds of film, television, music, sports and more.
For the first time ever, Nickelodeon’s Orange Blimp will leave the KCA venue and take fans on a wild ride around the world and beyond. Filled with slime and messy stunts, viewers will travel to outer space, Bikini Bottom and right into celebrities’ homes using XR technology. This year’s show will also feature live and interactive fan walls that bring celebrities and families at home to the main stage; second screen live voting all night long where fans stay in control; and a KCA blimp award presented by one lucky family chosen during the show.
Who is set to appear at KCA 2021?
Lots of your favorite celebrities are set to take part in KCA 2021 - and when I say lots, I mean, LOTS! Scheduled to appear are: Kim Kardashian, Gal Gadot, Robert Downey Jr., Millie Bobby Brown, Charli D’Amelio, BTS, Hailey Bieber, Addison Rae, Sofía Vergara, David Dobrik, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Tiffany Haddish, Anna Kendrick, Liza Koshy, Jennifer Garner, Heidi Klum, Terry Crews, Tyler Perry, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo, Marsai Martin, Joshua Bassett, Anthony Anderson, Dani & Dannah Lane, Iain Armitage and more!
As Nickelodeon’s Orange Blimp takes fans on a virtual ride around the world and beyond, Nickelodeon’s iCarly cast members Miranda Cosgrove (Carly Shay), Jerry Trainor (Spencer Shay) and Nathan Kress (Freddie Benson) will reunite to present this year’s KCA for “Favorite Movie.” The hit show, which ran on Nickelodeon for six seasons, will be returning as a revival series on ViacomCBS’ rebranded streaming service Paramount+.
Stars from the worlds of TV, music, film and social media will be joined by Nickelodeon talent: JoJo Siwa; That Girl Lay Lay; Jules LeBlanc and Jayden Bartels (Side Hustle); Gabrielle Nevaeh Green and Darci Lynne (Unfiltered); and Young Dylan (Tyler Perry’s Young Dylan).
Justin Bieber will hit the KCA main stage for a Total Music Takeover, featuring epic, show-stopping performances of his chart-topping hits “Intentions,” joined by Quavo, and his latest single “Anyone.”
Vice President Kamala Harris will also be delivering special remarks. The Vice President, who will be introduced by actress Jennifer Garner, is set to appear as part of the show’s Generation Change presentation, which recognizes kids’ strength and courage to create a better world for future generations.
What can I expect to see during KCA 2021?
Again, lots!
This year’s show will also feature live and interactive fan walls that bring celebrities and families at home to the main stage; second screen live voting all night long where fans stay in control. There will also be an exclusive sneak peek clip from PAW Patrol: The Movie.
Will there be a pre-show?
Yes! Watch it here!: http://nickalive.blogspot.com/2021/03/live-2021-kids-choice-awards-pre-show.html
What about the slime?
It's slime time! The Kids’ Choice Awards wouldn't be the Kids’ Choice Awards without massive quantities of Nickelodeon's iconic green slime!
At least six presenters are slated to be doused, and with the KCA stage surrounded by a massive lagoon, at least one celebrity will be taking a dip in the goo during a special musical performance! Find out who here!
Nick also sent 12-ounce bottles of slime to participating families at home, who will simultaneously unleash the green stuff. Nickelodeon has partnered with Guinness World Records to achieve a new milestone: the most simultaneous slimings from different locations at the same time!
Additionally, Nickelodeon is harnessing the power of augmented reality (AR) to bring the gooey green slime of the Kids’ Choice Awards into fans’ worlds in a brand-new way. In the Do Not Touch app, viewers can fly the iconic KCA blimp and dump slime all over their homes. The app creates the interactive experience by using a mobile device’s camera to detect real world objects.
