Nickelodeon in Israel has renewed young-adult drama Ziggy (זיגי) for a second season!
'Ziggy' is set for another 40 episodes |
From Tel Aviv-based producer and distributor ADD Content (The Missing, My Guardian Angel) and created by Shahar Segall and Oren Yaakobi, Ziggy tells the story of a 16-year-old boy named Dori who has the skin condition vitiligo (a long-term skin condition characterised by patches of the skin losing their pigment).
To fulfil his dream of singing and performing on stage but lacking confidence, Dori invents a charismatic and talented alter ego – Ziggy – a personality who can conquer bullies and shine through the mask he adopts as his signature costume. Dori/Ziggy is played by newcomer, Amitai Erman, who also has Vitiligo. The show follows Dori’s journey of success and his battle to keep his true identity a secret, while he falls in love, makes friends, and discovers himself.
The series is distributed internationally by ADD Content.
Nickelodeon, which is carried by pay TV platform Hot in Israel, has commissioned a further 40 episodes of the series. Emil Ben Shimon is the director.
The news comes hot on the heels of TeenNick Israel premiering the show's season one finale.
Hadas Mozes-Lichtenstein, co-founder and head of international at ADD Content, said: “This series shines a light on the importance of acceptance, both of others and, more importantly, of yourself.”
