The cereal is made up of vanilla-flavored cereal with under-the-sea-themed marshmallows. So your bowl will be filled with SpongeBob-, Patrick-, and pineapple-shaped and -colored marshmallows to bring a nautical vibe to your breakfast. Think of it like Lucky Charms, but better, for obvious reasons.
This isn’t the first SpongeBob-themed cereal, and not even the first one with crunchy bits and marshmallow pieces. Around 2003, Kellogg’s released an unsweetened multigrain cereal with the same themed marshmallows, but that mix also included a jellyfish one. It appears that the same cereal was released again a few years later with a different box. Then, over a decade later in 2014, there was a “fruity splash” cereal made up of yellow SpongeBob and red Patrick pieces from General Mills.
Kellogg’s SpongeBob SquarePants Cereal is in stores today.
One of the best parts of the cereal is the packaging - SpongeBob and Patrick are on either side of the box, their excited faces pulling you in. The characters have a 3-dimensional feel as well — they don't look flat, which is apt, as The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run is the first SpongeBob movie made with 3D animation.
In addition to the cereal, we’ll also be getting SpongeBob SquarePants Rice Krispies Treats, according to @candyhunting. The square-shaped yellow marshmallow treats show SpongeBob’s face with his classic brown pants and red tie, however, it looks like they’re just printed on the wrapping and not on the treats themselves. Either way, they're bound to be SPPOOOONNNGGGEEEERRIFFFICCC!
Also available in stores are SpongeBob-branded Froot Loops! Each box comes with a free SpongeBob bowl buddy inside. There are three SpongeBob bowl buddies to collect - SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick Star and Sandy Cheeks.
SpongeBob SquarePants (Tom Kenny), his best friend Patrick Star (Bill Fagerbakke) and the rest of the gang from Bikini Bottom hit the big screen in the first-ever all CGI SpongeBob motion picture event. After SpongeBob’s beloved pet snail Gary is snail-napped, he and Patrick embark on an epic adventure to The Lost City of Atlantic City to bring Gary home. As they navigate the delights and dangers on this perilous and hilarious rescue mission, SpongeBob and his pals prove there’s nothing stronger than the power of friendship.
The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run will feature a raft of guest stars, including: Keanu Reeves (as a tumbleweed named Sage), Awkwafina, Reggie Watts and Snoop Dog. Cyndi Lauper (The SpongeBob Musical) has written original songs for the film.
