"SpongeBob’s Big Birthday Blowout" is an all-new original mixed live-action and animated special commemorating the 20th anniversary of Stephen Hillenberg’s beloved animated series and characters. In the one-hour special, which will feature for the first time the celebrated voice talent behind SpongeBob, Patrick, Mr. Krabs, Sandy, Squidward and Plankton playing live-action doppelgänger versions of the animated characters they voice, it’s SpongeBob’s birthday, and Patrick and SpongeBob journey to the surface world, where they come across a few familiar characters during lunchtime rush at The Trusty Slab restaurant. Meanwhile, the Bikini Bottom residents are busy setting up a surprise party for SpongeBob.
"SpongeBob’s Big Birthday Blowout" will premiere on Nickelodeon on Friday, July 12 at 8:00 p.m. (ET/PT), and will kick off "Best Year Ever", a year-long celebration of Nickelodeon's beloved SpongeBob SquarePants animated series, which will lead up to the Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies theatrical, The SpongeBob Movie: It's a Wonderful Sponge, coming summer 2020.
“The tiny residents of Bikini Bottom have held the world’s attention for a remarkable 20 years and we owe it all to the monumental creator Stephen Hillenburg,” said Ramsey Naito, Executive Vice President (EVP), Animation Production and Development, Nickelodeon. “This anniversary special is a love letter to everyone in the universe of SpongeBob, from the fans across the globe to the incredible creative team, crew and talent who continue to bring these great characters to life.”
The special screening of "SpongeBob’s Big Birthday Blowout" will be part of the "Other Screening Events" portion of the festival. The date and time of the screening has yet to be announced.
Nickelodeon will also commemorate the series with: a new product line by master toy partner Alpha Group, featuring figures that showcase SpongeBob’s iconic meme moments; collaborations with lifestyle brand Cynthia Rowley for a SpongeBob wetsuit and international mixed-media artist Romero Britto; the launch of a mobile game; and more. Nickelodeon has also launched a dedicated SpongeBob SquarePants YouTube channel.

Additionally, the Becca's Bunch episode "Wishing Stone" has been shortlisted to take part in the official film selection at Annecy International Animated Film Festival 2019! In the episode, Pedro tells The Bunch he's never had a wish come true. The Bunch can't believe this, and Becca thinks she knows just how to solve it: go on an adventure to the Wishing Stone! Produced by Becca's Bunch, Becca's Bunch is a preschool series which airs on Nickelodeon channels globally. Congrats JAM!
