Nickelodeon characters, storytelling and lots of Summer Programme activities organised for young patients at the hospital
The event was organised with the aim of introducing the younger generation to the importance of humanitarian efforts and social responsibility.
The “Let’s Read and Enjoy” programme held a session at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City on Wednesday 8th August 2018 with the aim of transferring a library atmosphere to hospital patients, bringing them an ambiance of love for knowledge and reading, as well as introducing them to the many national library branches spread across Abu Dhabi.
Young patients were treated to a day filled with storytelling and reading activities as part of the Summer Programme, alongside workshops introducing a selection of international authors, books, and cultures from around the world, to encourage patients to read more during the summer break.
Children were also treated to a special surprise visit from their favourite Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network characters including SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer and Tom and Jerry, bringing their stories to life for the children. The visit also included, interactive workshop activities filled with puzzle making, colouring and singing.
Organised as part of DCT Abu Dhabi’s outreach programme, the special visit was aimed at all age groups, especially sick children, to provide them with the necessary moral and psychological support for a smooth recovery.
