Entertainment One (eOne) is counting down to Christmas with the launch of a special Peppa Pig advent calendar exclusively with Asda, reports Licensing.biz.
Developed by Jazwares and distributed by Character Options, the new launch offers Peppa fans the chance to countdown down the days to Christmas by revealing a surprise toy each day.
The advent calendar features an assortment of 24 toys, a mixture of favourite character figures and festive accessories that children can collect. The fold down flap also creates a festive Peppa Pig Christmas scene.
Suitable for children over two years old, the £25 advent calendar is now available in over 300 selected Asda stores and online.
Katie Rollings, head of UK licensing at eOne Family, said: “This new Peppa Pig advent calendar is an inspired fusion of toy and gift that will heighten anticipation as young fans count down the days to Christmas.”
Ryan Longstaff, senior buying manager on toys at Asda, added: “this is a great example of the growing trend for advent calendars that deliver a surprise gift every day in the lead up to Christmas.
“Combining this winning format with Peppa Pig is a great way of appealing to pre-schoolers and retail sales of 3,500 units in the first week are testament to its success.”

- Peppa Pig is heading to German TV screens thanks to a new broadcast deal with Super RTL. The free to air (FTA) broadcaster has acquired the rights of the global preschool phenomenon and Super RTL will be premiering brand new episodes of Series 7, never seen before in Germany, from Thursday 1st March 2018. Super RTL's licensing division is set to focus on establishing new partnerships for the brand in the region in addition to managing existing relationships with licensees in the territory.
