Nickelodeon Greece Acquires Rights To Rainbow's "Maggie & Bianca Fashion Friends" And "World Of Winx"

Rainbow has announced plans to bring two of its hit shows to Nickelodeon Greece, strengthening its relationship with the broadcaster!

Hit live-action show Maggie & Bianca Fashion Friends and the animated hit World of Winx are both on their way to the network, with the former airing weekdays at 10pm from Monday 4th September 2017, as well as two shows daily at weekends. The arrival of Maggie & Bianca Fashion Friends on Nickelodeon Greece will be preceded by a strong launch campaign. World of Winx, a new series inspired by the globally successful Winx Club, will also air from September.

Maggie & Bianca Fashion Friends, pictured above, is a live-action dramedy that follows the adventures of Maggie and Bianca – two very different girls who meet at the prestigious Milan Fashion Academy. Nickelodeon Greece joins stations in many other territories, including Italy’s free-to-air channel Rai Gulp, Gulli in France, TV Cultura in Brazil, Karousel in Russia and Disney Channel in Germany, as well as Nickelodeon in Poland and Benelux. Netflix is the worldwide VOD partner for the show.

Maggie & Bianca Fashion Friends, the Italian animation studio’s first full live-action series, has already proved a success in other regions, leading to a third season and two 50-minute TV movies as well as a live tour and a number of multi-territory licensing deals.

World of Winx, pictured below, sees the six fairies familiar to millions from Winx Club travel to Earth to act as scouts for talent show WOW! and search the globe for talented kids. But all is not as it seems, as they soon uncover the evil activity of the Talent Thief – a mysterious and despicable villain who is capturing gifted children! The show has been available on Netflix, where it has been released worldwide, since November 2016. It is also currently screening or about to be launched on Rai Gulp in Italy, TV Zoom in Israel and Karusel in Russia and will be broadcast in a number of other countries in the coming months.

The arrival of these two shows further strengthens Rainbow’s position in the Greek market and its relationship with Nickelodeon. Nickelodeon Greece already airs re-runs of Winx Club on weekdays at 4pm and weekends at 1.30 pm throughout the year. The good ratings performance of Winx Club is matched by the success of Regal Academy, a fabulous, hilarious and highly original re-imagining of the world of fairy tales.

The first series of Regal Academy ran on Nickelodeon Greece from October 2016 to July 2017. Season one reruns start from late August in the weekday 9.30pm slot.

B-rights, one of the leading licensing agencies in Greece, which already represents Winx Club and Regal Academy in Greece will now also represent Maggie & Bianca Fashion Friends and World of Winx in the region.

The news follows Nickelodeon Greece acquiring the rights to Gwen Stefani's popular music-driven, street fashion-inspired animated series Kuu Kuu Harajuku.
