Nickelodeon fans everywhere will remember the major feud between the two former on-screen siblings earlier this summer. Drake was reportedly hurt that he was not invited to his Drake & Josh buddy's wedding, and the drama quickly escalated after he subtweeted Josh. Josh then opened up about being hurt by the wedding tweets. However, it looks like bygones are officially bygones.
Backstage at MTV's 2017 VMAs at the Forum in Inglewood, California, Drake and Josh had an epic reunion. Both of the actors posted the most adorable photo of them embraced with the caption "Hug me...", a reference to their iconic catchphrase on the hit Nickelodeon comedy, on their individual Instagram and Twitter channels. Meanwhile, Bell wrote, "Reunited and it feels so good!!" Looks like these two couldn't have been kept apart for long.
Drake also went live on Instagram to also clarify what exactly was going on. He said, "this is real. this is happening. what's up buddy. the reunion is official. We're back together."
Now that these two TV brothers have made amend, it seems that all is right in the world. Or at least the world of childhood nostalgia.
Elite Daily had the chance to chat with Peck about the duos friendship before the epic reunion, and he revealed the truth about what's been going down between the two.
When asked what it means to be at the VMAs, Peck told Elite Daily,
"It's really cool to support, as always, the MTV, Nickelodeon, Viacom family, and I'm here with my wife, Paige, which is always a pleasure — just here to watch some dope performances."
Peck then went on to explain that life's been pretty good since his wedding. The star recently married longtime girlfriend Paige O'Brien, and had a beautiful wedding — except he didn't invite Drake Bell. Peck comments, "Oh, I'm glowing, can't you tell? It's very good and she said “I do” and she seems to still like me so, uh, it's going strong!"
Peck also spoke a little bit about what it's like to have fans who have followed him so closely since his Drake & Josh days. He explained,
"I know it sounds corny, but it's beyond an honor to have these kids who loved the show 12 years ago when we finished making it, and the fact that they still are ride and die for D and J is incredible."
When asked if Josh has seen Drake on the red carpet yet he says not yet, but it's “all love.” He shares, "I haven't, no, but that's all love. I'm so excited he's here." Peck then explains that it would be great to run into him before the night is over so they could take an incredible photo and clear up any rumors about drama for fans. While talking about a reunion with Drake, Josh adds, "That's the picture of the night, come on. You never know, gotta keep you guessing."
Fans couldn't be happier that Drake & Josh had a reunion, however, one person had a fantastic reaction: Drake and Josh's TV dad, Jonathan Goldstein aka Walter Nichols!
Reposting the pic both Drake and Josh shared on their social media accounts, Jonathan added a caption that just might make you tear up from nostalgia overload. "It warms a fake fathers heart," he wrote, adding the appropriate hashtag, "#lovethybrother." Now all we need is the trio to appear in "Where's Walter?" skits together, and we'll be golden!
It's fantastic to see the two old friends were able to get past all this wedding drama, and it's great to see that this feud ended with the kind of reconciliation the writers of Drake & Josh would be proud of. Anyone else convinced Megan (Miranda Cosgrove) was secretly behind the falling out *and* the eventual reunion? I wouldn't put it past her... . Hopefully, the Nickelodeon favorites will be hanging out more in the future! #DrakeAndJosh reunion special, anymore? :)
