In a second deal, one of China's largest digital platforms, iQIYI, has secured the non-exclusive SVOD rights to the series, which generated more than 10 million views in its first two weeks on the platform.
Chop Chop Ninja Challenge is a all-new non-verbal short-form slapstick series based on the bestselling Chop Chop mobile game franchise from developer Gamerizon Studio that has generated more than 19 million downloads on the Apple App Store, with the top three markets being Canada, China and the US.
The series follows each of the four main characters from the hit app - Iro, Jo, Tetsuo and Neeko - as they compete in individual challenges that test their skills. Each character is given 10 challenges, and have 3 tries to complete the challenge, with each try upping the ante, but they fail miserably in comedic ways every time.
Commissioned by Teletoon in Canada, Chop Chop Ninja Challenge is a co-production from Montreal-based companies Sardine Productions and Gamerizon.
The series is also supported by two online games that launched on Teletoon Canada's website in Autumn/Fall 2015.
GoldBee, under MD Christophe Goldberger, holds the international distribution rights for the property (excluding Iberia and Latin America).
A full 52x11mins series is also in development with Teletoon in Canada, and the shorts premiere on the channel this Fall.
