Nickelodeon has greenlit an animated preschool series about a group of dolls that magically come to life, based on MGA Entertainment’s Lalaloopsy toys.
Lalaloopsy (52x30′) will feature dolls such as Mittens Fluff ‘n’ Stuff, Bea Spells-a-Lot and Pillow Featherbed, who all have personalities based on the fabrics that were used to make them.
Nick says the toon, coproduced with MGA Entertainment and Moonscoop Productions, “celebrates diversity, friendship and teamwork.” It is set to begin airing in the spring.

The Nick pick comes after parent Viacom last month unveiled plans to introduce six new series in a bid to turn around its flagging ratings. Another of the shows is the latest instalment of the Japanese animé franchise Digimon.
