In Celebuzz's exclusive "Big Time Rush" interview, the Nickelodeon boyband members joke about how Simon Cowell may have discovered the UK/Irish boyband "One Direction", they're really responsible for the English group's massive success in the USA.
Carlos Pena Jr. also talks about how One Direction asked "Big Time Rush" to open shows for them as part of 1D's upcoming 2013 World Tour. "They did ask for us to go and open for them," Pena Jr. said of returning the tour favor for letting One Direction open shows for them during Big Time Rush's "Better With U" tour in February 2012. "We really wanted to . . . [season 4 of] our show shoots right now, and it kind of conflicted." "Maybe one day we can play again — it’d be fun," added Maslow.
The band, who was missing Logan Henderson on the red carpet, also talked about their upcoming third album. "We wrote literally 99 percent of it, from our hands," Schmidt revealed. "I think our fans are really going to appreciate the music they’re haring from the third album. It’s coming from us.":

Simon Cowell may have discovered One Direction, but a fellow boy band says they’re responsible for the English group’s massive success — at least, in the U.S. of A.
“One thing we can say is that they never played in the U.S. until they opened for us on our winter tour,” James Maslow of Big Time Rush told Celebuzz.
Maslow, along with fellow BTR members Carlos Pena Jr. and Kendall Schmidt, were in Santa Monica, Calif. for the Hall of Game Awards hosted by the Cartoon Network on Feb. 9.
“All I gotta say is that this is America,” Schmidt added with a smirk. “This is America, and we’re American. They’re still not an American boy band. We’re representing. We’re holding our own.”
Jokes aside, it’s hard to believe that exactly one year has passed since 1D opened for 10 BTR shows during the Better With U Tour. Now, Harry Styles and the boys are just days away from embarking on their 2013 World Tour.
“They did ask for us to go and open for them,” Pena Jr. said of returning the tour favor. “We really wanted to . . . our show shoots right now, and it kind of conflicted.”
“Maybe one day we can play again — it’d be fun,” added Maslow.
The band, who was missing Logan Henderson on the red carpet, also dished on their upcoming third album.
“We wrote literally 99 percent of it, from our hands,” Schmidt revealed. “I think our fans are really going to appreciate the music they’re haring from the third album. It’s coming from us.”

Three of the guys of Big Time Rush were asked about what they thought of One Direction's success on the red carpet of Cartoon Network's Hall of Game Awards earlier this week. "[One Direction] are rad. One thing we can say is that they never played in the U.S. until they opened for us on our winter tour," BTR's James Maslow told Celebuzz in a new interview released on February 15. "They're the coolest guys ever, props to them, they've killed it, they've continued playing and they're talented kids and nice kids so we wish them the best." Big Time Rush talks about One Direction. "All I gotta say is that this is America," Kendall Schmidt added with a smile "This is America, and we're American. They’re still not an American boy band. We're representing. We're holding our own." It was heavily rumored for awhile that BTR would join 1D for the UK leg of their world tour, a spot now given to 5 Seconds of Summer, but BTR's Nickelodeon TV show filming schedule just wouldn't allow them the opportunity. "They did ask for us to go and open for them," Carlos Pena said. "We really wanted to...our show shoots right now, and it kind of conflicted." "Maybe one day we can play again, it’d be fun," he added. Meanwhile Big Time Rush's third album is expected to be released this year and so far the boys seem pretty proud of what they got in store for fans. "We wrote literally 99 percent of it, from our hands," Kendall said. "I think our fans are really going to appreciate the music they’re haring from the third album. It’s coming from us." Would you like to see BTR & 1D tour together again? Let's not forget, back in October, Louis Tomlinson picked BTR over The Wanted as a fellow boy band to collaborate with.
